Forgotten conflicts
There are some parts of the world that receive constant attention because of their impact on international affairs however there are many other parts of the world that are neglected by the mainstream media. These are the places that we forget to remember.
Lasting crises, frozen and forgotten conflicts are typical of our times. Even though certain conflicts come to an end, many do not because no solution is found for the underlying causes. The great majority of these conflicts are internal and involve non-State entities. Such complex and interminable crises are a challenge not only for statesmen and diplomats but also for “humanitarians”, in particular the international organizations that attempt to implement humanitarian action.
Forgotten Conflicts is an initiative by Landmine Action to raise awareness and where feasible physically assist impoverished communities in marginalised or neglected areas where others may be reluctant to venture.
